New patterns! I'm feeling the sewing bug this month...think I'm going to upload these to Spoonflower and order some yardage so I can bust out the sewing machine and have fun!
Here's what became of all those bug parts! I put them together into a little insect collection.
So tired of being cold and bundling up. Why do I live in Minnesota? Oh well, working on some new spring florals to trick myself into forgetting what's lurking outside my window. Happy Monday!
I took a lot of time off over the holidays since the boys and my husband were home for a couple of week and we were super busy with family stuff. While the time off was nice, by the end of winter break I was starting to feel cranky from not making any art! Still, getting back to the studio this week I've felt kind of aimless and had trouble getting back in the swing of things. I decided to combat my bad mental soundtrack of "I'll never have any more ideas or ever make any good work again" by just playing with some collage bits and making something just for fun. I've been wanting to do an illustrated alphabet for a while, so I started there, with E for elephant. We'll see what come next!
While working on my new designs for Silhouette this week, I got a bee in my bonnet about working some of my shapes up in to some holiday patterns. Once I get started making patterns it's hard to stop. It's amazing what a difference color choice makes! Which colorway do you like best? Lime and teal, or red and turquoise? Have you wanted to try your hand at hand papercutting, but didn't know how to get started? I've added the first design in my new line of downloadable hand papercutting patterns to my etsy shop! Pretty much all you need is an exacto knife, paper, and a self-healing cutting mat to get to work. Lovebirds is sweet, easy-to-cut, and adorable in a frame. The digital download includes a pdf pattern sheet along with a sheet listing materials and packed with my cutting tips and tricks. More pattern designs will be added soon! Please note, this is a digital download, not a physical product.
Don't want to cut by hand? Check out my SVG cutting file here to use your Silhouette Cameo or other home cutting machine.
For the past six month's I've been participating in Lilla Roger's Make Art That Sells: Assignment Bootcamp. Each month provided an assignment brief and other goodies along the way, with a monthly gallery of all the projects created. Our final assignment was to create wall art with the theme of a favorite drink, something inspiring we would hang in our own space. I decided to work with the collage techniques I've been playing with after taking Mati Rose's Daring Adventures in Collage E-course and this is what I submitted. The e-course was fun ride with lots of inspiration, and as always, the push to keep making good art!
Check out all the amazing work created by my fellow bootcamp classmates on the class gallery!
